Real-time Google Meet updates on Slack!


Setup Meet-Slack using two simple steps

Step 1 — Slack app


  • Add the Meet-Slack app to your Slack workspace by clicking the below "Add to Slack" button

  • Once installed, you will be redirected to a page to generate a Slack API key.


  • Click "Generate". This will generate a Slack API key in this format, xoxp-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx
    • Keep the tab open or save the key somewhere.

  • If you fail to get an API key, install the Slack app again using above button.

Security

Step 2 — Chrome Extension


  • Install Meet-Slack status Chrome extension from the webstore

  • Open any meeting link from your calendar. The extension will inform that a Slack API key is required.


  • Open the Meet-Slack status extension by clicking on the puzzle icon,

    • Search for an emoji you like and select it


    • Copy-paste the Slack API key which was generated in Step 1 and save it


  • The page should reload itself once you save the API key. If it does not work, try reloading the page again.

Success


  • If everything is setup successfully, on any Setu Google Meet Link the extension will show a success badge with further actions.

Optionally, you can disconnect status updates from the Google calendar bot, after you get this working. This is more real-time than the bot right? 😛

  • Open Google Calendar bot in slack
  • In the Home tab of the bot, click Settings
  • Turn off Status Sync and hit Done
